Warren County, NC Inmate Lookup, Jails and Sheriff's Office

All inmates arrested within Warren County are transferred to the Warren County jail if they cannot afford to pay bail or are denied by the court. In return, finding an inmate in the county is very easy, as your first destination should be the jail’s inmate roster available on the Warren County Sheriff’s Office website. 

It is easy to find the inmates using the inmate roster as it is grouped by; 

• Inmates’ names 
• Age 
• Date of incarceration 
• Charges 

However, you should note that an inmate may be in jail but not on the roster. This may be because the court has sealed their records or they have not yet completed the orientation and booking process. If such is the case, you should call the jail administration at 252-257-3314 or visit the jail in person. 

Inmates Not in the County Jail 

If an inmate is not in the county jail, you can use the BOP inmate locator to check if they are in federal prisons. You can also use the NCDPS offender search website to see if they are in the Warren Correctional Institution or any other state correction facility. The search tool is searchable by the offender’s name or NCDPS-issued ID. 

You can also try to find them using the ICE Detainee Locator system if they are illegal immigrants in the county. The database is searchable by ICE-issued number, name, and country of birth. 

If you cannot still find them, you may utilize third-party websites. These websites offer quick access to information on all county and state inmates for free or at a fee. However, you should be very careful as some websites charge a lot, and their information is outdated.

There are two prisons in Warren County; 

• Warren County Jail 
• Warren Correctional Institution 

The Warren County Jail 

The Warren County jail is the main one and incarcerates all adult offenders arrested within the county charged with state, federal, county, or universal laws. The jail is a minimum-medium security facility located at 128 Rafters Lane, Warrenton, North Carolina, 27589. 

The Warren County Jail is run and maintained by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office locally and the NC Department of Public Safety at the regional level. This jail houses inmates awaiting trial in court, specifically those who cannot pay or are denied bail. 

In addition, it incarcerates inmates with a sentence not exceeding a year and a possibility of parole. The NCDPS also utilizes this jail to reduce the overcrowding in the state prisons by running a re-entry program in the facility. Again, it detains probation and parole violators in these houses. 

This detention facility’s overall monthly booking average is 386, and 87 employees manage it. In addition to these employees, some trustees help in the various departments in laundry, official, kitchen, and maintenance. 

Warren Correctional Facility 

The Warren Correctional Facility is a close, medium, and minimal custody security facility located at 379 Collins Road, Manson, North Carolina, 27553. It operates under the management of the NCDPS, with over 809 inmates. These inmates have sentences exceeding a year without a chance of release on parole at that time. 

The facility is for adult males, and it was opened in 1997 and acquired its first medium custody C on August 18, 1997. It also has 168 single-cell buildings and two modular dorms, which housed around 88 minimum custody offenders. In August 2004, 168 single-cell building was added to the initial structure. 

The NCDPS utilizes the jail to house witness protection programs and persons of interest in the county. 

About Warren County Sheriff’s Office 

The county sheriff’s post is one of the oldest in NC, and the current Warren County sheriff is Major John Branche. The office, located at 132 Rafters Ln, Warrenton, NC 27589, United States, is the county’s primary law enforcement agency tasked with protecting and serving Warren County residents with fairness, compassion, and respect. 

The sheriff in Warren County is a constitutional officer the county residents choose. They perform crucially significant roles in the three pillars of our criminal justice system—law enforcement, corrections, and court functions—across the country. About the County  

Warren County is located in the northeastern Piedmont region of North Carolina, close to the border with Virginia. The county was created in 1779 from Bute County’s northern portion and named for Joseph Warren. 

The county has a total area of 444 square miles, of which 428 square miles is land and 15 square miles is water. It is home to 18,642 people as of the 2020 Census, and Warrenton serves as the county seat.
