You must visit the Polk County Sheriff’s Office’s website to conduct a Polk County offender search. On the menu bar, click “Divisions” and choose “Detention” on the dropdown list. This directs you to the jail’s webpage. The jail’s webpage links to the county jail inmate search tool.

You can perform an inmate search using the “Search For an Inmate” tool by providing the inmate’s name and charge description or indicating the last number of days. The “Search by Name” option also allows you to view a list of all currently incarcerated offenders. This list typically displays the offender’s full name, age, race, sex, and admission date. The names are arranged in alphabetic order.

If you do not find your incarcerated loved one or person interested in this search tool or roster, you are advised to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 828.894.3001. You must provide the offender’s correct name and identification number for this inmate inquiry.

Other Searches

After trial and conviction, most inmates are transferred to other correctional facilities depending on the crime and security classification. Individuals convicted of serious felonies are usually moved to state prison. Their custody goes to the North Carolina Department of Corrections. The Department allows you to search for an incarcerated loved one using the “Criminal Offender Searches” tool. It only requires you to provide the individual’s name and inmate ID. Remember, this tool does not have information on county jails.
