About Northampton County Jail

Northampton County Jail is an Adult county-level medium-security facility located at 205 Depot STREET, Jackson, NC, 27845. The facility has been operational since 1950 and receives approximately 195 bookings monthly. The Northampton County facility accommodates inmates from all over the county under the management of the Northampton Sheriff and North Carolina Department of Corrections.

The facility houses inmates awaiting sentencing or trial. Moreover, most offenders who pass through the Northampton County jail are held for three years or less.

Annually, the Northampton County jail uses more than 46 inmates in its in-office work lines to assist the administration with its kitchen and clothing, among other activities. Moreover, the facility has about 129 staff members who ensure all the activities in the facility run smoothly.

Inmates with good behaviors receive a trustee status and work at the Northampton County jail for a fee, or their sentence is reduced. In addition, various opportunities are provided for inmates in the facility, such as the GED, computer education, anger management, financial management, and substance abuse treatment.

Odom Correctional Institution

Odom Correctional Institution is a high-security urban jail located at 485 Odom Prison Road, Jackson, NC, 27845. The facility has a total capacity of 352 adult males. Inmates held in the facility have committed either misdemeanor or felony offenses. Offenders in the east wing are housed in cells, while those in the west wing are accommodated in a dormitory.

About Northampton County

Northampton County is situated along the fall line between the coastal plain and Piedmont parts of North Carolina and was founded in 1741 by Bertie County.
