About Harnett County Jail and Other Facilities 

The Harnett County detention center is the largest jail in the county, arranged on two sections of land in the Lillington metropolitan area. The facility was founded in 1933 and is situated at 175 Bain Street, Lillington, NC, 27546. Harnett detention center has a total population of 207, with 150 men and 22 females. In addition, the facility has a total of 3968 admissions, while the total booking per month is approximately 276. The facility has a capacity of 300-bed office accommodating pre-preliminary inmates.  

Annually, Harnett County detention center uses 150 inmates in its in-office work lines to help administrations with its kitchen and clothing, among other activities. The facility provides inmates with different programs which help them acquire new skills. 

Harnett Correctional Institution 

Harnett Correctional Institution is a medium security facility in Lillington, North Carolina. The facility houses up to 954 adult males in dormitories. In addition, the facility consists of eight housing units, each with various dormitories. The other 34 single occupancy cells are used for disciplinary and administrative purposes. 

Harnett Correctional Institution provides classes in adult basic education and the ability to acquire a GED. Moreover, the vocational courses provided in the facility include masonry, auto repair, electronics, culinary arts, electrical wiring, and welding. Sex offenders individuals receive treatment through the Sex Offender Accountability and Responsibility Program, which is offered for 20 weeks through mental health services. The facility offers inmates jobs, including working on Department of Transport road crews, facility maintenance, and kitchen and cafeteria jobs.
