An inmate roster is available on the web for the Ashe County Detention Center. You can view their records by tapping on the inmate’s name when you extend the page. These records contain their name, date of birth, address, race, case, document type, booking date, charges, court date, court event, division, and court role.

You can also call the jail at 336-846-5633 to see if the inmate is in the facility. This is because the inmate’s name may not be available on the inmate roster, especially if they have just been booked or brought to the facility.

You may register with VINELink if you are a crime victim. When you register, you will receive updates on your offender, and you can keep track of their progress in jail. This includes when they are near release, transfers, or any other disciplinary record against them while in the county jail.

Alternatives to finding inmates in Ashe County

Ashe County jail acts as a terminal point for all inmates in the county. Most of these inmates do not spend their time in prison. Thus, they are transferred to the NC state and federal prisons once they receive their verdicts. Consequently, their names may be unavailable on the inmate roster on the sheriff’s website.

State Prison Inmates

You may try finding them in the state-owned prisons by visiting the NCDPS offender search page. You can find them by their names or their prisoner number.

Federal Prison Inmates

Your offender may be transferred to a federal prison, especially if involved in federal offenses charges. If such is the case, you may use the Bureau of Prison inmate locator tool to search by the offender’s name or BOP register, FBI, INS, or DCDC numbers.

Third-Party Websites

Some third-party websites offer access to the Ashe County public records. These websites provide a quick solution to surf through government records, including inmate records. You can locate any inmate in the county or state by name, charges, age, race, and prisoner ID.

About Ashe County Jail/Prisons

Ashe County Detention Center is the county’s only jail, located at 140 Government Circle, Jefferson, NC, 28640. The facility was built in 1942; since then, it has undergone massive renovations. It is now a state-of-the-art jail with a 160-bed capacity. The facility provides detention services for people charged with a crime awaiting trial in the Ashe County courts.

On the other hand, those serving time in the facility are those convicted of misdemeanors and serving their sentences which on average is three months. Although the inmates in this jail are always non-violent, the detention center’s seven housing units are constantly monitored by a high-tech command tower.

Staffing

Twenty-eight detention officers work around the clock inspecting each housing unit to ensure the safety of inmates and the security of the facility.

These officers must meet basic and specialized training mandated by North Carolina Sheriff’s Training and Standards. North Carolina Sheriff’s Standards and Training audit this training annually.

The sheriff also employs inmates as trustees to help in the various manual works in the prison. In return, they may receive some payment, days off, or other benefits such as a good word for release on parole.

In addition, the sheriff also runs a volunteer program in the jail where volunteers can help in roles such as education, religion, lobby, secretarial work, and other voluntary jobs.

How to bond inmates out of Ashe County Jail?

If you wish to pay a bond for a detainee, you will have to pay the full amount listed on the bond by the Magistrate. To do so, contact the Magistrate’s Office at (336)219-1419. You will be informed to visit the Ashe County Detention Center or Ashe County Courthouse and pay the entire amount in cash.

If you have insufficient funds to pay the bond, you can hire the services of a bail bond agent who will cater the remaining balance for you at an interest rate of 15%.
