Ensure that you have the inmate’s basic information, such as name, inmate ID, sex, and age, at hand.

Inmates in the NCDPS facilities

The county also has state facilities run by the NCDPS, and to locate the men incarcerated there, you need to visit the NCDPS offender search page on their official website. You may try finding an inmate by their name or prisoner ID.

North Carolina VINELink

The NC VINELink is a free service to all crime victims who wish to follow up on their offenders. This resource allows the victim to receive notifications once the incarceration status of the offender changes. To receive updates by phone, or email, register with NC VINELink now.

Other Alternatives

Sometimes inmates are subjects for transfer, and it’s hard to locate them if you do not know where to look. If an inmate is incarcerated in federal prisons, you may try locating them using the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator page on their official website.

On the other hand, if they are in an ICE detention facility, you may try using the detainee locator system to find them by name, country of birth, or ICE number.

Third-Party Websites

Due to the NC Freedom of Information Act, nowadays, prisoner information is accessible from anywhere. Third-party websites offer a simple and quick search on all databases in the county and try to find your inmate of interest in seconds.

Although some websites are well-updated, some are not, and their information may differ from the official records.

Anson County Jail

The Anson County jail is the county’s main detention facility. It is located at 119 North Washington Street, Wadesboro, NC, and is operated by the Anson County Sheriff’s Office.

The jail was opened in 1984 following a renovation of the initial jail structure, which was commissioned in 1912. Currently, the facility can accommodate 60 beds.

The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for detaining offenders in the county, and the staff ensures they maintain a safe environment while upholding the inmates’ constitutional rights. This ensures the community’s safety and contributes to a better quality of life.

The county jail’s main aim is to rehabilitate offenders, and most inmates serving time there are there in jail for less than a year. Most of these offenders are non-violent; hence they are eligible for release on parole, especially first-time offenders.

Jail Staff

The Anson County Jail has an average of 217 total bookings each month. To serve and ensure the facility, the Sheriff hires 55 employees to take charge of facility. This includes correctional officers, deputies, and non-uniform staff. This consists of the cooks, the groundmen, the transportation unit, commissary attendants, lobby workers, doctors, and nurses.

In addition, the facility employs more than 30 offenders in its in-office work lines yearly to assist with its laundry, culinary, and other operations.

Inmate Intake

The facility has a 68-bed capacity that serves the City of Wadesboro, local law enforcement agencies, neighboring cities, and unincorporated regions in the county. The facility houses inmates depending on their crimes, current danger, and conduct. The jail is an adult minimum-medium security facility that houses both male and female offenders who have been arrested or are awaiting sentencing for breaking the NC state and federal laws, County and municipal ordinances.

The majority of the inmate awaits trial in court or bail. After sentencing, most of them are transported to State or federal prisons. On the other hand, others are sentenced to the county’s rehabilitative detention facilities, such as mental or drug-related rehabilitation centers.

However, some inmates serve their time in the facility. These inmates have a sentence ranging from a month to 24 months. In addition, these inmates are non-violent offenders with non-violent crimes. Moreover, they have a chance for release on parole after serving a few weeks or months in the facility.

How To Locate an Inmate in Anson County Jail

The first step you should do if a family member or loved one is presently housed in the Anson County Jail is to get in touch with the jail to learn more about the prisoner. Based on your information, you would then contact a bail bond company or a criminal defense attorney. They will provide you with crucial details that can be used to defend someone and, frequently, secure their release from custody while they await trial.

However, if you are not sure of their where about and you suspect that they may be incarcerated at this facility, you can access the jail’s prisoner roster, which is now accessible online. To perform a search, you must provide the individual’s full name, date of birth, residence, race, ID Number, case number, document type, booking date, charges, court date, case event, division, and court date.

Since it takes time to update the jail roster, you may contact the jail administration at 704-695-9328 to ask if the prisoner is under their care.

Additionally, the Anson County Jail has a free mobile app available on Google Play and the Apple App Store that enables interested parties to access information about the inmates in the facility.

You can access the NCDPS inmate search tool if all is not possible.
